About Me
Hi, I’m Nikki, the mama behind Living & Learning Coram Deo. I’m a Christ-follower, wife, and mother to 6 children + 1 in heaven. We are a military family currently living in Asia. Even with our transient lifestyle, our hope in Christ provides the deep roots we need to build a strong foundation and leave a legacy of faith to our children and those around us.
I love gatherings and hosting friends for meaningful fellowship (and for any reason to prepare a giant cheese or dessert charcuterie board). Playdates, lunches, tea parties, coffees (even though I only drink tea), workouts, cupcake decorating, lumpia-making nights…you name it, and I’ll host it! I’m also a big thrifter for clothes and home decor, and get a thrill when I find a deal or neat item.
You’ll find my big crew and me outside most days exploring new parks, riding bikes, or up in trees (just the kids because I’m at the bottom, ready to catch them). We love the outdoors and try to soak in as much sun as possible. As I homeschool my children, I continue to learn so much alongside them and have come to love history and reading. You’ll find books scattered in different corners of my home. Charlotte Mason’s education books currently grace the side of my bed. Angela Duckworth’s Grit is in my purse so I can get a little read in between errands and appointments. My children began taking piano lessons with Hoffman Academy last year. Therefore, I also set the goal for 2022 to play the piano again. I decided to learn Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, but I’m beyond rusty. We shall see what the result sounds like by the end of the year!
Why I Made This Blog
If I stumble upon a fantastic book that stirs my soul, I am that friend who will buy a case of it to give away because I want others to have the same experience. If I come upon an idea that makes life a whole lot easier, I will passionately spread the word so others can benefit from it too. I created this blog to do the same for moms like you!
Ultimately, I want to be a vessel God uses to challenge what the secular culture says about womanhood and family values. Scripture teaches us our purpose and roles as women, sisters, mothers, and friends. Through this blog, I hope to showcase the great work Christ can do in every aspect of our personal walks, including the simplest of tasks we perform in our homes.
If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, then you’ve been adopted as God’s beloved daughter (John 1:12). Therefore, God is the Father and Helper you need to transform and grow every part of your life. Naturally, your personal growth will influence the spiritual growth process of your family as well! You are an essential vessel God can use to point your children and those around you directly to him.
Cultivating a Christ-centered home and leaving a legacy of faith requires time and commitment. We must spend time in Scripture, learn about who God is, and seek his Wisdom in every detail of our lives. Living coram Deo is a part of that! Blossoming and transformation will happen by the grace of God. Through this blog, I hope to only share Truth, goodness, and beauty and inspire other moms to do the same.
What I Believe
“I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the one holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”
– APOSTLE’S CREED
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.“
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (ESV)
